Trashbot: MakeUofT Hacks

Feb 2025

Developed an AI-based trash sorting system in 24 hours using PyTorch for object classification, OpenCV for real-time image processing, and Arduino for hardware control. Implemented C++ sensor integration for autonomous detection and precise actuator-based sorting. The system captures images of incoming waste, classifies items in real-time, and triggers mechanical arms to sort materials into designated bins automatically.
